Nas- Basic48 Loader 69 Firmware Update
Hi Worrywort, If you have a static ip address assigned via your Internet Service Provider??, then you wont require a Dynamic DNS host service. If not, then you will (as mentioned – no-ip) Once that is determined, you will need to configure the Billion modem for remote access and port forwarding. If Static IP address, then you would just enable remote access. If dynamic IP address, then you would be required to configure the Dynamic DNS service of the Billion modem with you 'no-ip' details. At first this can seem a little daunting, however Google is a great source of info. As mentioned, there are no specific steps as it depends on the model of the modem and how the NAS has been set-up. First step should be to lock down the security on the NAS device.
Anything that is exposed on the internet will get noticed in minutes & often start getting sustained password attacks in less than 30 mins, seen it myself. Google 'honey pot' You need to be running something like auto block ip on the NAS so an outside IP address gets blocked automatically if it tries say 5 wrong passwords.
You need to use 'strong' passwords. Get an idea how they should be & make your own. Even with the above, be prepared for anything on the NAS to get pinched, posted somewhere &/or deleted.

Hackers might take it over & use it to attack others or tunnel into your other LAN connected devices. Set up port forwarding only for the ports you need.
Opening ssh or telnet = get hacked fast. Like posted above, the NAS should be set to a fixed IP address inside your LAN, eg 192.168.1.10 which is outside the DHCP range (DHCP range = say.100 to.200) You then port fwd say port 80 (http) & port 21 (ftp) to.10.
Thanks everyone for the great info. I think its all coming unstuck with my Billion 7700n mod/router. 'Add Dynamic DNS This page allows you to add a Dynamic DNS address from DynDNS.org or TZO.
D-DNS provider DynDNS.org TZO Hostname Interface pppoe0835/ppp0 DynDNS Settings Username Password ' It only allows the option of two. DynDNS or TZO.
I had intended using 'no-ip' as its free. Might have to see what exetel charge for a fixed ip address.
Seagate Blackarmor Nas Firmware Update
Vw navigation rns 310 europe download. Thanks again. If someone has a Billion 7700n working this way I like to know.
I recently bought a Armor Network Drive HDD Enclosure and put an 80G Seagate into it. The instructions say it must be fat32 and it works with Win 98, NT, 200 and XP. I've put it on my network and it works great with the 3 XP machines - but with Vista Home Premium!!!!!! It will access the first directory level (Public) and any files there, but it won't (can't) open any folders below that.
When I do try to access one of those folders it takes about 5 minutes before it says it can't access the folder, then the XP machines lose access. If I switch off the drive then restart the XP machines I regain access. I can access the drive on the Vista machine with a USB cable, but the network access then won't work. Any suggestions as to what I could try to access the drive from Vista? Normal networking between the Vista and the XP machines works fine. I recently took delivery of one of these and get the same results with Vista.
Using FTP and setting up a shortcut in windows explorer works OK although it seems a step too far for settings a path in Vista Backup and Restore Centre. Have found this site that may have a solution but have not yet convinced myself that the firmware is compatible. The MacPower image looks like it may be a clone, similar base and case shape.
A search for 'NAS-BASIC48' returns a few forum discussions where processor type compatibility issues are discussed, will have to open it up again and see if there are any more clues re. Processor type and so on. Might email the support address at midte re firmware updates, they may just have an answer.
This document collects together information and links to this type of device that maybe use the same firmware. I have updated the firmware and now working with Vista.
Is the site from where I purchased my unit via their Ebay shop. On that page is a link to the manual, within that manual is an alternate link for firmware updates. However the manual includes an image for a different enclosure housing so I emailed the company and they confirmed that the update link is compatible.
The download is available. Initially I found that when I tried to upload to the Landrive using a HTTP logon, it returned an error 'Action Failed! General Error'.
Maybe this is due to my setup, running firefox with some script blockers and whatever. I had come across a program with the name 'nasdiskutility (www.station-drivers.com).exe' downloadable from.
I used the upgrade feature in this program and it completed OK. Using SMB with Vista now lists folders OK and seems faster, saw a reference somewhere saying that transfer speed is also improved but still to convince myself about that one.
